How to care for your Diffuser
Reed diffusers are a beautiful home accessory, they leave a subtle and long lasting fragrance in any room. They help to disguise odours more naturally than air fresheners do.
How they work: the liquid in the diffuser is made up of scented oils, when the reeds are placed in the bottle the liquid is then drawn up the channels that are in the reeds. The scent is then dispersed into the the air as it evaporate from the reeds. When you first place the reeds into to the bottle it will take between 24-36 hours for the scent to diffuse. The larger the room the less noticeable the scent will be.
Turning the reeds: you can help the fragrance to be slightly stronger by inverting the reeds every 2 weeks, this will ensure that delivery of the fragrance remains. Sometimes the reeds may clog, you will will notice this as there will be a drop in scent diffusion, if this happens then you will need new reeds.
How long do reed diffusers last: your reed diffuser should last between 8 – 12 weeks. However this depends on many factors including, the fragrance, the type and number of reeds used, position of the diffuser and the seasonal temperature variations. The diffusion slows down in cooler environments and increases when the temperature rises like in the summer. It also varies due to air circulation in the room. If you think that your reed diffuser is going down too quickly then you may want to reduce the number of reeds in it.
Reed diffuser safety: keep away from open flames as reed diffusers are highly flammable. Also the liquid may damage polished surfaces, make sure to wipe any oil form the bottom of the bottle and place it on a protective surface. If the oil contacts skin make sure to wash off well as may cause and allergic reaction.
